Whatever Friday {Huge 4th of July Roundup}

Pin It

Happy Friday! I hope you've all had a great week.

1. I have this pipe dream, and I'd like to share it with you. I've made so many friendships while blogging. I feel like I actually know y'all. What's so weird is that so many of you are such good friends...but we've never met. Wouldn't it be totally cool to remedy that? I always hear about the "big" bloggers going to cool events or conferences and hanging out together, and I'll admit, I get jealous, because they actually have met their bloggy friends. So, here's my dream: some day we all plan a trip (not a conference, just a fun weekend) together. Somewhere in the middle of the country, since we're spread all over. Denver? St. Louis? Chicago? Utah? I have no idea where. But would that be beyond awesome? I know it's a dream...but hey, sometimes dreams come true. (Summer 2013, anyone?)

2. Okay, so this week I made you sugar. {No surprise there!}

I made you more stuff in a jar, because jars are way cuter than regular plates.

And I made you more ice cream. With crust. Because that's how I roll.

I also made one last treat for the Fourth of July. Because I couldn't help myself. In fact, here's a round-up of all the patriotic treats I made this year:

Red, White, and Blue Cupcake Tops, Crumb Apple Pie, Red Velvet Cheesecake Cupcakes, and Patriotic Nutella Cookie Dough Dipped Pretzels.

3. For this weeks' Flashback Friday, I bring you my past patriotic treats:

Red, White, and Blue Cake Pops, Patriotic Cupcake Bites, and Spiral Cookies for the Fourth.

4. Blogland has been bathed in Red, White, and Blue lately. I love seeing it all, something about the colors makes me happy. Freedom and all that, I guess. (The fact that we, as bloggers, have the freedom to, well, blog?)

Here are some of my favs from the past month or so...

1. Flag Cake by Trilogy Edibles2. Chocolate Zucchini Donuts by Inside BruCrew Life3. Double Decker Flag Cookies by Munchkin Munchies4. Cheesecake Popsicles by Kitchen Meets Girl5. Red, White, and Blue Striped Creamy Coconut Stars by Hungry Happenings6. Firecracker Cupcakes by The Domestic Rebel7. Red, White, and Blue Pretzels by Shugary Sweets8. 4th of July Fireworks Cake by Bird On A Cake9. Patriotic Star Cakes by Bird On A Cake

10. Blueberry Star Tart by The Domestic Rebel11. Patriotic Cookie Dippers by Lady Behind the Curtain12. Patriotic Biscuits by Hungry Happenings13. Red, White, and Blue Light Shake by Will Cook For Smiles14. Patriotic Pie Crust by Happier Than A Pig In Mud15. Patriotic Mini Fruit Pizzas by Shaken Together16. Red, White, and Blue Fun-Da-Middles by Pint Sized Baker17. American Flag Cupcakes by Couponing and Cooking18. Patriotic Blow Pop Drink by Dip It In Chocolate

I love all these ideas!!

5. I have a tip for you: do not walk in the dark, with your hands full, in heels. Let's just say I had forgotten how much it hurts to have a skinned knee, let alone two skinned knees, two skinned ankles, and it also doesn't feel great when nail polish is removed with concrete. On a brighter note: I did not drop my phone.

6. Did anyone watch the season finale of RHOC on Tuesday? Wow. Okay, the girls might have overreacted about the bow, but that Sara chick, is she for real? I mean is she even a cast member? She has a blog on the Bravo site but was never really a full part of the show. And Brooks. He skeeves me out, am I the only one? And come on Bravo! Making us wait until the 10th to start the reunion shows??? Please.

7. Yes, I do watch shows besides those on Bravo. Totally. I watch The View. And The Soup. And Drop Dead Diva. But it is summer; Bravo is the only sustainable television right now. What are you watching? My hubs and I need some "together" shows, because, can you believe the RH of anywhere would not be his first choice?

8. Ann Curry. I feel bad for her, don't you? I don't watch Today as much as I used to, Jordan being 7 and all, makes it kind of hard to watch news about fires, wars, and generally bad people doing very bad things. I "read" Ann's good-bye speech yesterday on closed captioning at the gym. I think she got a few digs to the network into her farewell. All the great work she did over 15 years...and they sack her because she's not Meredith.

9. I finished the Crank trilogy. You all NEED to read it. I just started Divergent. So far, it's good. Reminds me a little of Matched. What are you reading?

Have a wonderful weekend everyone! Do something fun and crazy. :)

Kisses!

Dorothy
What a great collection of 4th of July foods.

Don't feel bad about falling. I tripped going up some cement stairs in May. I needed 6 stitches and had one huge black eye.

Hope your weekend is a great one!

HUGE recipe round up is right! I just spent about 20 minutes clicking through almost each recipe, Dorothy! 5 - i drop my phone every time i fall. this is my 4th iPhone in 1 year. I'm not joking. I'm BEYOND clumsy. Consider yourself lucky girl!

Yes, we should totally do a bloggy meet up! Chicago would be fun :) big cities rule. Let's plan it!! Thanks for featuring my recipes :) so many red, white and blue treats and can you believe it's Wednesday? Geez. Also: RHOC. WTF. Sarah is a poster-child to say no to drugs, seriously. She is beyond words PSYCHOTIC. And uh, addicted. And Brooks is gross and I despise him and really am disgusted by Vicki choosing his side and not even her daughter's. It bothers me that whenever Brianna talks about her feelings toward Brooks and stuff, Vicki will immediately shut her down and then blanket "I love yous" all over Brianna. Ew! I love yous don't work like that, you know? It sickens me. Anyway, can't wait for our reunion drinking party!!

Um-- YES! A blogger get-together would be so fun!!! I'm always up for Utah since I've got fam there, and besides I'm kind of in love with it. But I'm seeing lots of Chicago votes-- which would be cool too, and I could probably drive there! On that note-- I MIGHT be trying to go to the Six Sister blog conference in SLC in Feb 2013-- that could work too! Of course, hopefully I'll get to see you and Hayley at Christmas time anyway :)

Round up is awesome! Wish I had done some 4th treats this year, but alas... too lazy!

Don't fall anymore, please. I worry!

Thanks for including me in your round up! So many run ideas! I would love to do a meet-up! That sounds like a great idea. I admit, I would love to go to a big convention, however, I would feel the the freshman kid with leprosy in a sea of homecoming queens. I would never survive. Sorry, don't watch RH anything... been stuck on Vampire Diaries on Netflix, but I'll need a new show after this weekend. I'll look into Crank on the kindle for a new book to read. Just finished "Water for Elephants". Really not sure what all the hype was about on that book...

I have the same pipe dream. Ya'll are welcome to come to AK anytime you want. January, shall we say??
It seems especially silly that I've made military friends blogging and I can't make military friends here!
I'll have to read up on the Ann Curry thing. I really liked her. I mean, I couldn't stand Meredith and I can't believe they keep Al around..

WOW! You've been busy, Dorothy!! Just figured out from this post one more thing we have in common ... falling. Yup, I fall all the time. I've gotten VERY good at just laughing off the embarrassment!! I would love to meet all the bloggy folks! ... my attendace would depend on where and when, though. Chicago ... possibly. Southeast ... definitely!

What a fantastic patriotic round-up! And I feel awesome because you included TWO of my treats! :0) A blogger get together would be so much fun...my vote is for Utah, I have friends and in-laws there. Just finished reading Insurgent, but I was disappointed. I liked Divergent better.

I feel the same way, it would totallybe fantastic to meet up with all my blogging buddies. Definitely something of a pipe dream though since I'm over that big pond! The Baileys pudding pies look amazing and love all these patriotic treats! In fact, the cupcake tops reminds me, I found a whoopie pie tin here.. yey! I totally wasn't expecting to find one here and I found it in a discount store too. Serendipity! It's even got a 5 year guarantee.

You made me giggle about walking in the dark. I do the same thing and end up looking like a child with my bruises, cuts and scrapes! From #6-9, I have no clue what you're talking about haha since it's not aired here.
